How To Cleanse Your Tarot Deck

Cleanse and Care for your Tarot Deck

The thing about tarot is that it’s all about energy. Amaria and I believe that there’s an energy within your cards and maybe you do too? Because the deck is loaded with energy, if you want a crystal clear reading, it’s important that you energetically cleanse your deck.

So lets talk about when to cleanse your deck and how to do it:

If you’ve just purchased your tarot deck it’s essential that you cleanse it before working with it. You want to make sure that the deck holds your energy and not the energy of the person who held the cards before you

6 Ways to Cleanse Your Deck:

Whilst an initial cleanse is super important, there are no hard and fast rules for how often you should cleanse your deck thereafter. A good rule of thumb is to cleanse your deck anytime you feel stuck with your readings or your readings somehow seem ‘off’

1 – Sorting and shuffling your deck. You can make a big messy pile of your card and re-sort your deck into order infusing each card with your energy as you do so.

2 -Knocking and tapping the deck. A quick and easy way to release and cleanse the energy of the cards is to knock or tap the cards with your knuckle. I like to hold the deck in my left hand and tap it three times with my dominant hand. You can visualise the energy coming loose as you do so.

3 – Meditating with your deck. For this technique you can simple hold the cards in your hands as you meditate. You might like to go a step further and visualise universal energy or a beam of light flowing into your cards as you meditate.

4 – Leaving your deck to bath in the light of the moon. The moon is an exceptional source of energy for your deck. Leave your cards on the window sill to soak in the light of the full moon once every month.

4 – Smoke cleansing your cards. Another simple and effect method for cleansing your cards is to pass them through incense or herb bundle smoke. The smoke will effectively cleanse the cards.

5 – Placing your cards on a bed of salt (wrap them in a plastic bag or similar first). Salt is an effective energy cleaner and neutralising agent. For this method, wrap your cards securely in a plastic bag or better yet place them in an airtight container and leave on a bed of salt overnight.

6 – Leaving your deck in the fresh air.

7 – Elemental cleansing – Working with one of the four elements to cleanse your cards. For example, air cleansing using smoke, water cleansing using a cleansing spray or moon water, earth cleansing using salt or fire cleansing by passing your cards over a candle flame.
